Thread: Oceanic preferred server chosen.

Before reading the below - NEZEKAN is our server.

As I've mentioned before; over at AionAus there's been heaps of discussion between about 40 oceanic based Legions as to which server we will be rolling on together.

There are reasons why it's good to have our playerbase on one server and there are also bad. In short, the good out-weigh the bad.

With things like pings, population and projected player-base; the 40 Legions including our own represented by me; went to a vote on AionAus' IRC channel.

The result was a landslide choice for ZIKEL.
It has the second lowest ping with the most ideal population for Aussie players.
NCSoft have stated that they will flag this server as a 'WC' West Coast server. Physically it is currently still located on the East Coast; but there is the unofficial indicator that they will be moving it to a West Coast data-centre now that it has been selected. This will only serve to reduce our pings.

A thread has been created over at AionSource stating pretty much which server won.

The next step is to wait for the official Aiononline beta forum post to allow people to make an official vote. When that's up I will post a link here. I would ask that EVERYONE chose Zikel on that thread poll. This will show the Aion dev's that yes, we are organised. They will then flag Zikel (hopefully) as Oceanic preferred; showing our OCeanic playerbase where their kin is calling home.

Just got this email from Zimoi over at aionaus.

Hey

Well it seems NCSoft is doing everything in their power to screw over the
Oceanic community. Early this morning we were informed that Zikel was
changed to an East coast labelled server
(List of Aion servers at launch | Aion™ Fantasy MMORPG). This throws a spanner
into the works since we didn't decide on a backup server in case something
was to happen to Zikel.

So what now? Tomorrow night (Sun 13th) at 8pm AEST we will be holding a
revote in #AionAus on irc.GameSurge.net. We ask that the legions
from this list
attend.

Some may ask why tomorrow night, why not give everyone a bit of notice? We
have a very strong suspicion that the Official NCsoft poll we be opened
Monday, which would screw over any server planning.

Early indications show that Nezekan is receiving the majority of support
from the community.

Sorry for the short notice, but we must get this sorted out ASAP. Can you
please let everyone know that If you want to discuss this please post
here.

Well that's dissappointing. But better to know now rather than later i guess.

7:00pm Server time (Peak time at my guess) would be:

9:30am for GMT -5

12:30pm for GMT -8

Darwin time.

Other way around, 7pm our time will be

4:30am for GMT -5

1:30am for GMT -8
