    Mini-review: Assassin's Creed (Xbox 360)

While initially the concept seems kinda lame and the voice acting is rather terrible, things get much better as the game goes on. The plot gets a little more intriguing and it becomes easier to put aside the bad voice acting.

The biggest reason for it getting better though it the great gameplay, combat mechanics and awesome graphics... Particularly worth note is the counter-attack system with brutally brilliant cinematic finishes, the ability to silently assassinate from behind, and how seamlessly you can climb up buildings and jump from roof top to roof top, and then of course there's the famous leap of faith into bails of hay and the like. All of this, in a world filled with gloriously detailed landscape and city as far as the eye can see.

There's a little too much free roaming for trivial "bonus" tasks like climbing look-outs or rescuing towns people and perhaps not enough real content, and there's almost too much dialogue, but I'm a few hours in and am loving it - I don't finish a lot of single player games, but this is sure to be one of them.

    Next, on to Mass Effect...

You forget to mention how utterly repetitive it is...

Good game with great potential for future installments, just wish it wasn't so easy. Doing all the sub-missions yields all this great info on how to approach your target, but the fact is almost 100% of the time you can just run up to your target, kill him and run off.

Rossman; that's the unfortunate reality. But I try I be a bit stealthy and play it as intended anyway, as it's far more entertaining.

Leonami; try avoiding a majority of the pointless side missions (which are all virtually identical, ie; rescuing a citizen), and the the monotony of gameplay is far less of a drag.

Zacwah; try Dead Rising, Saints Row, Gears of War, Bioshock, Lost Planet, Forza Motorspot 2 and Project Gotham Racing 4. All bloody brilliant exclusives. Oh and don't forget the hailed Mass Effect (but I haven't tried it yet).

I complete all the side missions, to achieve 100% completion of the game.
It does get a bit tedious, but its still awesome.

Yeah I do most of them in an area until I get fet-up, then I just finish that mission.

I recently got my throwing knives, which are totally rad. I'm now up to the part where Desmond talks to Lucy about her near-death experience.

It just continues to get better, and better, and better. I was so skeptical to begin with (as mentioned in my initial post), but I just enjoy it more and more as things progress. I have been glued to the TV for the last couple hours - I'd keep playing but should really get some rest.

It's the first single player game in a long time that has me not wanting to put down the controller for hours on end... hopefully it doesn't go down hill from here with repetition and a shit ending, which I've read it does, but I'll report back once I've experience it first hand.
