• Duke Nukem says critics are "missing the point"

Jon St John is Duke NukemThe voice of Duke Nukem, Jon St John, has slammed poor reviews of Duke Nukem Forever, telling The JoyPads "I have no comments regarding bad reviews by clueless critics. They seem to want to compare Duke Nukem Forever to Call Of Duty and other FPS's and they are missing the point."

He continued to say that "My thoughts about Duke Nukem Forever: It freakin ROCKS! Lots of action, lots of fun, sexy, funny, irreverent... It's everything I hoped it would be."

Randy Pitchford has made a remark of similar sentiment on Twitter, insinuating that Duke is selling very well: "With sales data, It seems like *customers* love Duke. I guess sometimes we want greasy hamburgers instead of caviar..."

Can't trust critics, everything comes down to personal taste, and critics as a whole tend to fancy themselves as intelligentsia. Incompatible with duke nukem.

Just like to say I am not a fan of the game, I think they missed the mark with what is clearly a console port. I do however feel that critics are missing the point also and that is the game is finally out! FINALLY! I'm just happy I can stop waiting now ^_^

its not at all a console port,
remember gearbox only touched up what was already done and then ported it to consoles, and what was already done was definitely made for pc.

that and the fact it runs absolutely rubbish on a console and has awful load times that just aren't there on pc.

I loved the game simply because it was like reliving my youth, and the voice acting was right on for me for the most part. There were a few things that I didn't really like about the game though. I think they modernized it too much. They added a regenerating health bar and I didn't like how I couldn't have a full inventory of weapons like in the old duke's. But in retrospect I suppose that they added that kind of stuff to interest younger generation who are use to the easy stuff like reloading weapon crates beside each boss. All in all, I was a little disappointed, but to have duke come out finally was enough to make me beat it and be very happy about it

after a couple more hours (and about the 5th attempt) of the game i can honestly i've changed my mind and find it gets old very fast.
i was enjoying it but i've already had enough i just cant bring myself to finish it, its starting to get on my nerves.
i found it funny at first, but the gameplay itself is just bad.
I was getting tired of the constant load screens and the bad gameplay mechanics but mostly its just starting to bore me.

Load screens are 3-6 seconds on my box. And I finished it in a single 6 hour session. How gave you have 5 goes at it?

I read another review that said waiting for reloads of 20 seconds at a time was the big disappointment for them too, but like rec my reload times are 3-6 seconds and I ain't running no speed demon.

Started playing last night. About 15 minutes in there's a part where a kid asks you for your autograph and hands you a copy of Duke's autobiography. As with the white board in the stadium at the beginning you're able to write whatever you want. I drew a cock and balls and gave it back to the kid. Right then I knew I would like this game.
