• PC game sales to surpass consoles by 2014

PC game sales already out-perform any individual console, but the latest predictions discussed on an Nvidia conference call promote the idea that by 2014 PC game sales will surpass all consoles, combined. Their claims are based on the growth of PC gaming software over the past few years, as well as the stagnation of console software - and they have some DFC Intelligence data to back it up.

The growth of PC gaming can largely be attributed to the rapid surge in digital sales, as boxed copies of PC games continue to dwindle. That trend looks to continue as almost $15 billion will be attributed to digital sales in 2011, yet a mere $2.5 billion belong to boxed copies.
