After months of anticipation (and recently some occasional, random preview access) the Dominion expansion for League of Legends is now finally available to players
Nearly a year in the making, League of Legends: Dominion represents the largest and most ambitious update to League of Legends since its launch in October of 2009. In Dominion, summoners do battle on a brand new map, the Crystal Scar, and vie for control over five Capture Points, a style of play never before attempted in the League of Legends universe.
The new mode will see players doing battle on a capture-and-hold style map with five capture points and a ticket system. The team that holds the most capture points will bleed out the enemy team's tickets and the first team to reach zero loses. Summoners start with a lot more gold than usual and also accumulate it faster as the game goes on meaning that your champion will be draped in bling a lot sooner than in Summoner's Rift. Dominion-specific Summoner spells which complement the new gameplay style have also been added.
All this makes for a much faster-paced game than Summoner's Rift with champions battling each other straight out of the gate. The average game length has been reduced from around 35 - 40 minutes down to about 20 minutes, so Dominion will also give LoL a boost in the spectating stakes at upcoming progaming evens, too.As before League of Legends: Dominion is free to play.
