GU's Sam Carr makes GT5 Time Trial Challenge Australian National Finals

Over the past month, Sony Computer Entertainment and Polyphony Digital have been running Gran Turismo 5 demo qualifications that could send the fastest drivers to their 2010 GT Academy - where there's a genuine possibility of becoming a paid race car driver, in-the-flesh. Last year in a similar PlayStation tournament, Spanish student Lucas Ordoñe found himself a real seat racing for Nissan, winning his spurs at the Dubai 24H.

Gamers-Underground.com forum member, Formula1, is now in a good position to potentially follow in those footsteps. Placing third in the country for the 'tuned car' option, and 14th in the 'normal car', he has put himself in 8th place overall, amidst tens of thousands, and will be competing against 19 others in Melbourne this February...

If he wins in Australia, he'll he whisked away to Britain's Silverstone circuit and trained in a five-day boot camp, followed by a UK-based intensive driving and racing programme that will prepare him to qualify for an international racing license. If after all of this he's selected ahead of the rest, we can expect to see him racing in the European GT4 Cup, in a Nissan 370Z.

He already won the Subway thing - commercial gets filmed in Brisbane at the end of Jan.

I like subway.... lol... But I like the fact that Sam has done so bloody well more!

Ever tried eating Subway without a sauce? All of the vegetables taste the same, bar the chilli and olives. And then there's the uncooked bacon and plastic chicken.

As long as its not bad for me, but im a sucker for AJ's chicken and Salad multi-grain sandwiches. But subway is good, Chicken fillet, all the salads, extra olives and southwest sauce on italian herb mmmmm

The Subway ad is being filmed next Tuesday in Brisbane and the GT final is on the Wednesday, its going to be very hectic.

The production company couldn't change the filming date from the Wednesday so I'm not involved with this production, I will be involved with another in a few months.

I finished 13th at GT Academy, was a fun day, the guy (Dan Holland) who everyone thought would win won, he wasn't as convincing as I thought he would be and I can't see him going far over in Silverstone.....but maybe thats just me being sour.
