• EA Sports to deliver tailored 3D experiences

    EA Sports boss, Peter Moore, today spoke exclusively with CVG. He has made bold and somewhat bias predictions that sports will be the biggest driver of 3D gaming's growth; "None of the games I've seen [so far] have been built that way - they've been regular games running in 3D. The real secret sauce will be when somebody says: 'I'm going to build this game specifically for a 3D platform.'"

    Moore insists that EA Sports absolutely looking into this "great opportunity" - creating these innovative 3D experiences. He goes on to recall previous but similar experiences in the industry; "This is reminiscent of where we were with HD five or six years ago. It seems like a lifetime ago now, but you'd go to CES and be in awe of HD - and it was sports games that showed up the technology. I think there's great opportunity for EA to bring sports to life in unbelievably imaginative ways, once we can grasp what 3D means to us."

      LONDON (AP)—British network Sky Sports claims it will broadcast the world’s first live sports event in 3-D when Arsenal hosts Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday.
      Previous 3-D trials have been limited to closed-circuit broadcasts in Britain and the United States, but the BSkyB channel will be transmitting Sunday’s match via regular satellite decoder boxes to selected pubs in Britain and Ireland.

      Football fans will have to wear special glasses to watch the 3-D televisions at the nine venues as they preview Sky’s dedicated 3-D channel, which will be launched in April.
      The channel will be available to pub subscribers before being expanded to regular customers and will initially broadcast one Premier League match a week in the new format.
