Aliens vs Predator released without dedicated servers

In the wake of the PC community's Modern Warfare 2 backlash, Rebellion made it very clear that dedicated servers were on their Aliens vs Predator development agenda. It was then quite strange then, even disheartening, that they decided to provide only a peer-to-peer match-making option for their demo release.

What's more is that AVP is now available in the United States, and there are still no dedicated servers. The files required for hosts to run them haven't been distributed, or even finalised it seems. This has garnered a huge "w-t-f" from the community, and it looks like we're stuck with single player until Rebellion pull their finger out...

Rebellion are busy preparing the dedicated server for the Aliens vs. Predator community. We hope to have a beta release with reduced functionality out in the next few days and further updates to improve functionality and fix bugs over the next few weeks.

The files will be available to download from the “Tools” tab in the Steam client and will be a free download.

Is there a way for you to change the new posts page so that we can go directly to the article instead of having to click on the tread and then your link?

I'm aware that they are on the main page but I only use the 'new posts' page when I load up GU.

AVP dedicated servers finally made available. Fail.

1. It seems you need to own the game on Steam to be able to install the dedicated server software.
2. You need to install the whole game (15gb) to be able to run a server.
3. You need Steam running to be able to run a server.
4. You need one Steam account per physical server (which means buying one copy of the game per machine).

Im still happy with the way i got around it by searching steam groups with the words Aliens vs Predator and australia found myself to grps i joined and just msged all the ppl online and presto.. im playing infestation/predator hunt and others- 10players all from AUS.
