Civilization V announced

Civ fans, throw your hands up in the air! Take-Two's iconic Sid Meier series is to be extended in the 4th quarter with Civilization V and is currently in development at Firaxis. Bold claims are made, telling that this 5th instalment "reinvigorates the classic turn-based strategy genre with an astonishing new engine built from the ground-up for this flagship edition of the Civilization franchise."

Awwww yeah. Civ is one of those franchises that seems to just get better with every iteration.

I know there are people who think Civ2 was superior to Civ3 but since I disagree with them they can just get fucked.

rec: It's a massively awesome game, but does require a bit of commitment. I don't know how much TBS you've played before, but unlike an FPS it lacks that gratification that comes with shooting someone in the face every 8 seconds.

You might be having a bad run on BC2 but at least in 15 mins time you get to have another try from a fresh start. With Civ you have to be prepared for the potential that you will invest a few hours of your life in each game and the end result will only be a brutal arse raping.

I guess one way to put it would be that FPS games like BC2 are the ADHD of gaming and Civ is the OCD.

Yeah, I can rarely beat the Civ games above Emperor level, due to the degree of micromanagement and calculation required.

i stopped playing Civ (cant remember the number); after I discovered that my farmers were SO fucking stupid, they didn't realise they had to re-seed their fields.

2K Games announced today that Sid Meier’s Civilization V will be available in North America on September 21, 2010 and internationally on September 24, 2010 for Windows PC

yay a game that's not delayed until 2011..

The "Giant Death Robot" is a giant bipedal mechanical robot armed with a variety of missiles, Gatling gun arms, laser-beam eyes and a deadly kung-fu punch. Although not currently found in the modern battlefield, no doubt across the world governments and evil corporations are secretly developing these metal behemoths even as we speak. When these robots come into service, all of the world's other weaponry will become obsolete, and humanity's fate will be decided by a climactic battle between armies of good and evil Giant Death Robots in the streets of downtown Tokyo (assuming that the giant radioactive monsters don't get us first.)

CIVILIZATION V
