• The Bad Company 2 release confusion

    Looking forward to Battlefield: Bad Company 2? Me too. I've even updated the GU theme in anxious anticipation. But before you set your alarms and prep Steam for launch, forget everything you thought you knew, because it seems the release schedule for Bad Company 2 still isn't quite clear. Here's what we do know, right now:


    • Pre-loading for USA Direct2Drive purchasers began at 10PM US Pacific time on their Sunday.
    • Bad Company 2 is listed to unlock on Steam for USA purchasers in approximately 7 hours (5am AEST, Wednesday March 3rd).
    • Pre-loading for UK Direct2Drive purchasers begins at 00:01am GMT March 3rd (10:01am AEST). This is rumored to coincide with the Steam UK (inc. AU) pre-load, so keep your eyes peeled tomorrow morning.
    • The official Bad Company 2 website states that the game's release for the region of United Kingdom is March 5; the countdown timer stating 1 day and 3 hours until release (midnight, Thursday March 4th).
    • Bad Company 2 is listed to unlock on Steam for AU/UK purchasers in 1 day and 5 hours (2am AEST, Thursday March 4th).


    So, there you have it. Make of it what you will, but by the time we wake up on Thursday, apparently, the game will be ready to play. Let's just hope the pre-load is made available early enough to download it in time.

      There doesn't seem to be a way to manually select preferred download location with the new Steam beta?

      Steam is just totaly out of whack at the moment, they just moved offices, have been inundated with hijacks and Americans whining about BC2 Download. Registered on their forum as I found a developer was helping fix tickets but their system requires admin authorisation before you can post. So ho hum I wait...and wait.....and wait

      Lol, managed to find my very first steam account. Doesnt help though none of my games can be seen...Good to know that I have a spare i suppose. was able to see that my disabled account hasnt been used

      Actually you know what? Fuck it. Im no longer calling it a pre-load. It's a fucking download; because the goddamn game is out in NA. Fuck them in their ears.

      Now it's a higher price - $20 USD higher than previously.

      Dan, myself and others picked it up for $49.99 USD from the Australian Steam store when it was first made available for pre-purchase. It's only just recently that the price has been hiked (maybe when it went from pre-purchase to pre-load). Probably due to the outrageously good reviews, and trend of charging more in this region. Or maybe the initial price was just a mistake. Whatever the reason - you should have purchased it earlier.

      Also; coming down at 350k/sec now.
