• Ubisoft predict 50% of games will be 3D by 2012

It was said during a recent Ubisoft investors call that fifty percent of video games will be 3D within a couple of years. FIFTY!? That seems like a rather large percentage, but it's important to keep in mind they're talking about 3D 'enabled' games, and probably not the ones that actually put effort into making the experience worthwhile.

"We will see more and more product coming in 3D on 360 and PS3 but also on portable machines," it was stated. "We can count on substantial grown in the 3D market just because it's more immersive, so it will be a good way for the industry to give even more emotion to the gamers," they added.

"I think next year we should see maybe 15-20% of games will be 3D on next-gen consoles ... and the following year will be at least 50% of the games." Let's just hope that it's better than their adaptation of James Cameron's Avatar.

I cant see things moving that fast.

Much like 3DTV I'll get one when they can integrate the shutter technology into my script lenses. That way I wont look like a douche.
