• The Sydney Gamers League returns

Attachment 6968 "What returns?" I don't blame you; The LAN scene has been dwindling into obscurity for the better part of a decade. Sydney Gamers League, otherwise known as SGL, isn't giving up on the treasured pastime however. The event is under new ownership, and is kicking off this Saturday at noon...

Over $20,000 in prizes will be delivered to the best teams on the day. If you're a skilled Team Fortress 2, Counter-Strike: Source, Modern Warfare or DOTA player you're in with a shot for some serious cash. If that's not your thing, how about the midnight Texas Hold'em tournament, or more strangely, a HDD throwing contest?

Ex Good Game host and current Kotaku writer, Junglist, will be there doing his part to promote the event and hand out a heap of UFC 2010 gear. Logitech, Fluidtek and Asus will also have new technology on show, so if hardware is your thing, then you should probably get down to have a peak.

The LAN runs right through until Sunday after at Sydney's Macquarie University, and don't forget this isn't a net cafe - you'll need to haul your own PC and gear along if you want to participate. 400 seats are up for grabs and are expected to fill.
