• StarCraft II beta returns, Real ID causing ruckus

With mere weeks until a retail release, StarCraft II beta servers are live once again, and it's reported that retail copies have been seen in the wild. To get back into the action, fire up your beta install and proceed to download the 550MB patch. Be sure to check out the patch notes.

In other news, Blizzard announced that all StarCraft II players wishing to participate on their forums would have their real name exposed when posting in an effort to cull abusive conduct. A lot of players are angry, and the news of this decision has even made it all the way to the BBC News. There are even those like Harvard student, Oliver Day, who say the Korean government might be to blame for this one.

All the immature pricks on the Blizzard forums only have themselves to blame.

Its not just SCII its WoW too. I have no problem with giving someone a common name that appears on ALL their Battlenet accounts and when clicked lists every player on every game on every realm etc.

I DO have a problem with first and last names. While personally I don't care I can see how some people would and it's a legitimate concern.

I too can understand the legitimate concerns... but personally it doesn't concern me. Go right ahead - I use my real name online already anyway.
