• PC vs Xbox 360 scrapped to avoid humiliation

    Apparently, and not exactly surprisingly, Microsoft had plans to create a standard for cross-platform play between Games for Windows LIVE titles and the Xbox 360. But according to Rahul Sood, CTO of gaming at HP, the idea was binned after play-tests left the Xbox gamers emotionally bruised and battered.

    Rahul writes that the "console players got destroyed every time. So much so that it would be embarrassing to the XBOX team in general had Microsoft launched this initiative." But let's face it, any gamer who plays on both the PC and a console already knew that would be the case.

    Still, there are a bunch of games out there that cross-platform play could work with, such as Street Fighter IV. Here's hoping the idea is explored further in the future. And if not, at least Valve are hoping to let us have some Portal fun between platforms.

      I've tried explaining this to so many people, but until you play first person shooters on a PC you just don't understand that they're worlds apart.

      Glad they came to their senses before it was too late.

      i dunno shadowrun was fun pc vs 360, but that was designed for that specifically
