• Call of Duty: Black Ops multiplayer looks great

    I think most of the reader base here at GU really enjoyed Modern Warfare 2's multiplayer gameplay, if only for a short time. Of course as we've discussed to death, the problem wasn't the game, rather the peer-to-peer match-making system and segmentation of the community with $15 map packs. That's why it's a delight to know that the next iteration of the Call of Duty franchise, Black Ops, looks to be just as fun and isn't giving dedicated server support the cold shoulder. Check out the trailer and prepare to get a wee bit excited.



    As the trailer teases, we can expect a full multiplayer reveal September 1st.

      Who knows. Probably, I think is the answer. But if the gameplay is solid, as is dedicated server support, I might even be happy to shell out for map packs.

      problem isn't buying mappacks yourself - need other people to do it too for them to be worth it :/

      No I have no problem with people playing new games, though I find it oddly amusing for somebody talks so highly of a new game coming out, that they jump ship onto the next best thing as soon as it appears. COD:MW2, then it was ME2, SC2, now COD. Though more power to you.

      New medal of honor is what i am waiting for made by the makers of BFBC2 ^_^ looks alot more fun and from memory i dont think i have ever had been charged for map packs.
      CoD never screamed out True FPS for me, i have always been someone for just guns and maybe call in for a mortar strike, but when you can be killed 6 -8 times in a Row by weapons you cannot counter that is just plain annoying..

      After looking at this vid i jumped on the the ps3 fired up CoDM2 and turned it off shortly after, giving players that excel at the game in already and increasing there kills by giving them abilities that no one can stop except try and hide from is just stupid never really was a fan of this game, Quake III Arena (instagib) was loads of fun and the original medal of honor i played for days at a time trying to improve my skills, seems in CoD games all you have to do is get a good streak and get orsum abilities..

      I am in awe of the players that can get something like 25kills in a row with out getting fragged them selves but then you obtain a nuclear warhead? seriously.

      I was thoroughly unimpressed with the Medal of Honor multiplayer beta - it's not even on my radar anymore unfortunately.

      yeah, wasn't impressed with MoH - but i agree with you, chaosengine, MW2's killstreak bonuses do nothing but stop new players from wanting to keep playing. fucking dumb decision IMO.

      maps packs will be paid for from now on, even on medal of honour and bc2.
      you might get the first one free like bc2 did but no more

      Ah, the world does move on mate. Games develop. What I once thought was awesome at 12 years of age is now still awesome in its own right, but I find other things more awesome now
