• Lord of the Rings Online soon to be free to play

    In what seems to be a new trend for EMORPERGERS (MMORPG) trying to get new players and bring back old players in a now saturated market, Lord of the Rings Online has begun a transition to the free-to-play model.

    The developer Turbine has almost completed work on their end, and ex-subscribers and beta participants should have access to the free-to-play in the next couple nights after maintenance. The general public will need to wait until September 10.

    "The head start will happen on the live game servers. Current and former subscribers as well as recent participants in the closed beta may be able to patch up and start playing as early as the 7th, dependent upon server availability."
