We might actually be able to get through a PBM on this one!

I'm going to play the demo prior to purchase, having never played a Civ before.

Unfortunately the demo comes out at the same time as game release, not before. :/

Yeah what a drag! There was never and doubt in my mind that I'd be buying it, but I was looking forward to a bit of a teaser with the demo a week or so before the game proper came out.

      Hang on!
The demo MAY be released on the day the US version goes live, so we may actually get 3 days play before release.
      Need to check this.

Why we get shafted on both price and release date for a digital distribution is a whole thread of its own.

      Hopefully that's the case!

Ok, so the digital manual has been released, and is available here.

Also, this thread suggests that the demo will in fact be released to the world at 9am on the 21st (US time).

In case you're pissed about the game being $30US more expensive for Australians on steam.

      Sid Meiers Civilization V 5 Game PC - ozgameshop.com <- $40.

Although from what I'm reading it's a subsidiary of 365games.co.uk - video games and accessories for PS3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii, DS, PSP, PC & Mac so the game will probably come from England. Free freight though?

      Ugh. Discs. :/

I guess a $30 saving is pretty hefty though.

Not having it on release day is enough reason for me to pay the extra and suck it up.

Also, there is official word on the unlock time and playability of the demo in this thread.

3 Civs, no changes to maps or game speed, 150 turns and it unlocks in less than 24 hours!

It's still a steam game even with the discs, and it's $40AU compared to the $80US on steam.

Not that i'm planning on buying it, I might if it wasn't such an insult price direct from steam.

$50 ($49.99) here in the US... not $40.

Game looks sweet, alot of small improvements over the 4th and the new combat system looks more tactical, which is a nice change.

yeh, i'm someone similar with other titles. i tend to buy the majors i have liked or think will be good. Plus, whats with the fucking deluxe version.... one extra civ... why even do that, just make one version.

Ozgameshop (which is british) is selling is for $40AU. AUS Steam is $80US and US steam is $50US.

      Just to be clear

      I hate bullshit regional pricing.

Civ 5 now out on Steam in North America: News - Now Available - Civilization V

Anyone spotted the demo in the wild yet?

YES, mine is downloading as we speak!

Type this in to your browser "steam://install/65900" and it will begin!

Apparently this is easier than trying to find it on steam, and mine should be close to finished, even though I am hundreds of kms away from being able to play it today!

EDIT: Ready to roll, bugger that I have to work and am so far away...
