• Call of Duty heads to space for forthcoming sequel

As if you haven't heard enough about Call of Duty, good or bad, over the past few days, we've got some more news for you: COD is going intergalactic. A newly-formed Activision studio named Sledgehammer is working on a Call of Duty "set in the future" and featuring "space Marines".

Activision has registered domains for "Call of Duty: Future Warfare, Advanced Warfare, Secret Warfare and Space Warfare," so what the final name may be isn't certain.

    Lasers. Pew, pew.

They are going to have a difficult time pitching this game to people considering the issues with the last two. I'm to the point where I am done with the C.O.D. games. They are not meeting expectations and are shipping with mega issues that never seem to get fixed.

is it just me or has the mentality these days become... "if a game isn't released perfect FFFFFUUUUUUUUUU developers", anyone remember the good old days when you could play alexx kidd/mario for 16 hours and if it froze just before the last boss (which was fairly common) u raged then started again... u didnt blame the makers for making a shit game u understood that it happens.

In fact its more likely these days with the millions upon millions of different configurations on people PCs.

for real get over it, its people with that mentality that cause games to be released early cos you whinge and complain that they are taking too long and then u cry when they are released instead of waiting the 2 days for it to be fixed... FFS people

Actually, I remember the days when games just worked. Sure there were bugs, but nothing like what we see today.

my point still stands, with evolving technology you have to learn to live with the issues that come with it, i'd love to see the people that complain try release a game that delivers to everyones expectation and has no problems on release.

no it isnt, it's people with the mentality of MONEYMONEYMONEYMONEYMONEY that cause games to be released early. it's NEVER been the way you suggested and never will be that way.

we aren't asking for the game to meet everyone's expectations except for the little tiny one of it working as intended. no one really cares about the occasional bug - but show stoppers that affect everyone should. not. happen. whinging about it is the only recourse we have - shutting up about it will just leave the publishers thinking "holy shit, we got away with that! lets do it moar!"

id Software and Blizzard do this with virtually every one of their games. Valve are very good too.

and they release winning titles because they generally don't release them, 'until they're ready'.

VALVE, ID and Blizz are the 3 companies that u expect nothing less of due to there history, but they haven't always been able to do it that way, now that they make enough money to not care about delays losing sales..... i honestly think they have the better sales strategy... "u will wait for our games, cos they will be worth it" lol

dont get me wrong im all for letting companies know that they need to fix issues but given the age we live in its to be expected, beta tests internal and external can only find so much... when a game goes live thats when u see what its made of.
      Anyways well off topic.

ive never been into the futuristic FPS's but if done right it could be a good game, or at the very least give players of BF2142 something else to play lol

It seems to me that theres a range of people who are perfectly willing to pay money, then bend over and scream "TAKE ME ROUGHLY". You're the reason they release games early, you have absolutely no reason to defend the developers, so why are you?. If it only takes 2 days to fix the problem (3 days and counting btw) why didn't they fix it BEFORE THEY RELEASED IT.

Your point might be valid if it was some kind of glitch that affected a small number of people in a negligible way, it's affecting a large number of people in a way that stops them playing a game that punishes you for lagging behind.

If you were defending unknownworlds I could see your point, they're in an alpha testing phase, and they're a small indie dev. Pull up your pants, cos treyarch and activision don't need you to protect them from the bad internet people.

Nothing I've seen so far has convinced me that the people behind this game aren't bastards that deserve some wrath thrown their way.

i fail too see the logic in that comment.... im not defending the developers from a "OMG LEAVE BRITNEY ALONE" perspective, im just saying that they cannot control what happens after release of a new game... and im sure that if the lag was an issue during development or testing they would have fixed it.

The larger issue is that there are infinite configurations of hardware/software that will always cause issues with specific users. However issues like this that affect quite a number of people, must share a common denominator.

That denominator should have been ironed out - through more time spent actually testing the game.
There is a trend that games get rushed out the door once it reaches an internal level of quality. The problem is that level isn't particularly high these days; mostly (the way I see it) because people will still buy the product at that level of quality; regardless.

given the prevalence of the problem either they didn't bother fixing it, or they didn't test properly. either way, they're culpable.
