• Call of Duty: Black Ops has been patched

Treyarch community manager, JD_2020, has posted on the Steam forums notifying us that Black Ops has just been graced with a client-side update, hopefully resolving the stuttering issues that have been such a hot topic over past days. The patch claims to fix the non-operational "friends" tab in the server browser, improve performance for dual and quad core computers, as improve the connectivity of the Black Ops Remote Console.

But, has it worked? Results seem varied. Some people are claiming it has removed the lag-like stutters and freezes entirely, while others say they see no difference what-so-ever and that all cores are still firing at 100%. Let us know if the problem is now resolved for you.

Steam will need to re-complete the installation, and some people are receiving "Incomplete Installation" errors. It is suggested by Steam support that you do do not submit support tickets for this issue, rather that you wait 10-15 and try again.

I played MP for the first time last night about three maps and an hours worth of play. Had no issues whatsoever. I bet this patch will fix that.

Well it seems to have removed most of the freezing and stuttering, however it locked when i first tried to enter . Some were saying that not all servers have rebooted after the server side patch so once that happens it should be better.. I wonder also if we need to revert any tweaks we did before hand.

When is the server browser going to be fixed so I can see all servers?

probably never Bama - that was one of the issues - clients polling the master servers for lists of 8000+ servers

It shouldn't matter as much as it did now that the friends area is fixed. I'd rather they fix the gameplay lag before the server browser.

Besides, you can favorite servers you see in the list or have been in, and the ones you've been in show up in your recents list.

If that's still not enough, friends can invite you to the servers their playing on, and now hopefully you can just check that 'friends' tab to see where everyone is playing, regardless of whether that server is visible in the main list.

Yeah no joy for me either. The big freezes have stopped, but the frequent stuttering remains.

I'm currently in the process of installing. It's updating about another 1.6gb combined between the SP and MP components.

Same for me. It helped with the big freezes but the game still lags, and stutters in single and multiplayer..

Guys just put the ''auto-download'' option in the multiplayer options off and the weird lag issues are gone... Proven by: me. It really helped. I've got a nice gamersrig and good internet and ping so I couldn't figure it out, but this destroyed all issues.
