It's that time again - the biggest tournament in all of e-sports concludes tomorrow night! The final match of the GSL Season 2 will be played out in Seoul, Korea and one gosu ubernerd will be going home with the huge first place prize of US$89,600. (I'm sure second place will be consoled somewhat by the cool US$27,000 prize, though.)The ultimate match of the tournament will be a best of seven between BoxeR (Terran) and NesTea (Zerg).
BoxeR (not to be mistaken with SC:BW legend SlayerSBoxeR), also known as Fake Boxer or just 'Foxer' is coming off an incredible run through his bracket which saw him eliminate not only GSL Season 1's champion, FruitDealer, but also the runner-up, HopeTorture.
He also won what is arguably the most exciting match of the entire tournament so far where he fended off the super-aggressive Zerg play of Kyrix in the quarter finals. He left observers speechless when he shut down Kyrix's Baneling play using Marines, which for those of you unfamiliar with Starcraft 2, is like countering kryptonite with Superman. Yet, thanks to his incredible macro and cool head he was able to pull it off.
Initially, BoxeR was ridiculed upon entering the tournament, being labelled a name-stealer for copying the famous SlayerSBoxeR's handle but since then he has won the respect of his critics by stating that his use of the name was actually a tribute to his hero and backing that up with play worthy of "The Emperor" (as SlayerSBoxeR is known to his fans) himself.
Meanwhile, NesTea has had a seemingly easy march to to the finals. Unlike BoxeR who has lost a few games along the way but still managed to pull out wins in each of his matches, NesTea is yet to experience a single loss in the tournament.
Some had said that NesTea just got lucky with weak opponents but those doubters were silenced when he met the actual SlayerSBoxeR (playing as Terran) in the semifinals and then absolutely demolished him 4-0 in their best of seven matchup.
So that's the scene folks - a gritty Terran with amazing micro who has proven himself capable of taking down even the most skilled Zerg players versus a Zerg who just doled out a complete flogging to greatest Starcraft: Brood War player of all time.
One thing's for sure - it will be EPIC.
The broadcast is on Saturday, 13th November and starts at 6.30pm Darwin / 7.30pm Adelaide / 8pm EST.
To watch it live you need to register an account at www.gomtv.net (it's free) and download and install their media player (also free and is actually a very good all-round media player to boot).
Once registered you can log in and watch the match for free in SD, but to watch their high-quality stream you'll need to purchase a day pass which is $2 and can be paid for with credit card or Paypal.
Don't wait until the night to register, either! Previous finals games have seen to much traffic to their site they've had to take their registration server offline.
I hope everyone tunes in!
