• Brink gets tutorial, free dedicated servers

    Brink is merely a week away. It's one of two big shooter releases I'm looking forward to this year, the other is unsurprisingly Battlefield 3. Most pleasingly, it was recently revealed how we'd get to play Brink multiplayer on the PC, and that's via cost free dedicated servers! The official statement from Splash Damage follows...

    The Brink Standalone Dedicated Server includes several different game configuration files covering all of the regular game modes, including campaign, stopwatch, objective, and co-*-op challenges. In addition, there are a variety of server-*-side commands available that allow you to further customize your server, including team sizes, time limits and overtime, warm-*-up rules, friendly fire, voice chat, availability of Command Post buffs, rank restrictions, number of bots, and password.


    Unfortunately for Australians, Brink is now $90 on Steam. You'll either have to grab a US VPN trial account to acquire a $50 copy, or sweet-talk Milenko to organise a gift on the forums.

      I could buy the Euro version for A$68 but with the dollar v Greenback US is surely the way to go.

      Thanks mate but I want to get a US VPN for my HTPC, which is finally set up and running sweet as a nut (iPiMP ftw btw), anyway so I can do it myself.

      Which VPN should I subscribe to?

      I use Overplay, OD uses Strong VPN. I've used both and both have pretty good performance for streaming etc.

      Works out from the UK to be about $45aud.

      Currently waiting for Valve / STEAM to allow my Aus. CC to be used from the UK for purchases though. Grrr.

      Just add an extra two zeros to your AU post code for it to work straight away (as well as choosing UK city/country).

      Anyone able to Clarify aussie release time/date?

      I've checked like 15 websites and they all say anywhere from last month through to the 20th of this month.

      US release is the 10th so would assume sometime early morning Wednesday for us, anyone know concrete?
