    Wireless link to DGA

Here at Darwinwireless we were banding the idea around again of a wireless link to the DGA venue #36 at the Greek School.

As far as I know Eater got a signal from there a couple of months ago to the Millner Repeater (Eater can you confirm?) If so then it should be easy enough to set up so the darwinwireless mob can join in the gaming.

The first one can be treated as an experiment to see how it all goes and test the workability.

Anyway, let me know what you think.

    FUTA.

I should just add to that - it sounds a little one sided in my first post, there are some ftp servers on DW that gamers can utilise, also I can share my net connection to the lan should anyone want to download the latest patches etc.

    cheers.

What an excellent idea. Nobody will have to turn up or pay entrance any more - they'll just hop on Darwin Wireless.
    Retarded since 1995.

I'd agree, kinda defeats the purpose of a "Local Area Network" party, doesn't it?

Not true. Most people go to LANs for more than just the game-play/leeching - I for one also go for the social aspect. How many people from DGA have access to Darwin Wireless?

I think it's a great idea for the reasons that FUTA explained - extra box for leeching, and net access for patches, drivers, etc.

it is likely the net access will be severly restricted.. these are the things we (DGA) have to discuss at our meeting before the LAN.

and Futa, like anyone else, will need to inform DGA before plugging anything into the network.

and in my personal view, DGA is about the social aspect.. ADSL has enabled fast gameplay / downloads from home for years, so having some external link at DGA isn't going to be too detrimental.
