When Would You Prefer Evo 6?

The DGA committee has had a discussion about the Evo6 dates.
We are torn between two decisions to have it in January like we have done in the past or to delay it to fit somewhere in the June/July school holidays.

So we would like to ask our DGA attendants for their opinions. Please do the poll to help us make a decision.

Jan, most people that goto the EVO goto school, and most people during June/July are stuck with school work and normal everyday work.

Also that most people down south come up to Darwin during Jan to goto the Evo.

Bear in mind that from a different perspective... June/July might make for a more prepared EVO as the committee:
    1. Has more time to prepare
    2. Might be able to negotiate Govt grants better as it will be after the budget is done

But on the other hand, January is tradition and its a nice lead into a year and I voted Jan...

My personal opinion is I like it at the start of the year. As a admin I don't mind setting up in the heat. The reasons for this topic being brought up are because of the heat and the rain. People haven't liked unpacking their stuff in these conditions and gaming in these conditions. This is fair enough, however I don’t see there is a need to change the dates because of these reason. The committee is also drawn between the idea which is why we are asking you guys the gamers on how you feel as you are the people who are really affect by this and in the end our decisions we be based on the feedback and the poll you have voted on. So keep up the constructive replies and keep on topic.

ok, i know this may sound bit stupid but, dont lots of people from insterstateand come up during jan to goto the evo's? i remember about 10 people at the evo5 from brisbane and sydney. some of the people interstate make arrangements with there boss's of when to get off work, prior to about 6months of the prepared evo date as i remember 1 of them saying. i cant remember there gamer tags but 1 of there names was jason.

its best to be fair on everyone i reckon, even if the people from interstate that come to the evo's is on a low scale.

Anyhow, doesnt the Golden Pavillion building have an aircon? i cant remember if it did... all i remember is kids runnin round up stairs bashing there sleeping friends with pillows and running off screaming..........................

its a lot easier to air condition in dry season, theres less lightning, and theres the possibility of getting a long weekend that's always a long weekend.

holding it around australia day was just convenient for the first couple years
