Thread: Memories of DGA...

Guys, in celebration of DGA 5th Birthday, I thought it'd be fun to put up a few thoughts (and pictures if you have any) of the earlier DGA's, the ones that set the scene, and the parts we miss or still enjoy today.

It's up to you what you'd consider old school, but I'd consider prior to Evo1.

Me first:

I miss the friendship between everybody. The ganging up on Korny and Flame (now days' just Korny). The lack Spyware, or risk of being overrun with virus'. Lightening storms, and constant power outages (as much as they sucked).
The jokes and games, the jokes IN games.
Exciting locations, and interesting layouts.

ok i can cut the power for a bit for you.. ill be sure to yell somthing out at you in game.. ill put a table outside for you.. ill bring stickey tape so we can stickey tape up korney and flame.
Ill make sure i got a virus called "porn.exe" and tell everyone to open it

I said, I MISS the lack of Virus' and spyware... I don't want MORE of it. ^_^'

Oh yeah, and Filesharing and porn.

Lots of great memories... DGA 1 being something really special, the biggest network gaming gathering in Darwin's history at that stage - everyone was very excited about what the future entailed for Darwin's gaming scene.

DGA 6 was a landmark event in my mind, we had a Class A venue, and was probably the most professionally run LAN DGA had hosted (not including LANs post DGA 6 of course).

At DGA 8 we used our own tables, courtesy of Clackers, for the first time. It was quite cool to own some of our own equipment.

I could go on and on, instead I'll leave you with a picture of a drunken OverDrive from DGA 6.

I miss the time when people listen to admins, kept the place clean, didnt spew up inside or outside, but most of all i miss when Tn1 used to run it, and the look of pure terror when he realised the buck stopped with him

Personally the 1st Evo we did at the Foskey I thought was the best, apart from the shitty switch i made the DNC guys use

let me think about some of my fav moments in DGA history.

I miss going and not having to take Urit with me . Although he caused me much amusement when he fluked a head shot to Unseen to win a round of CS in his second or 3rd DGA (He would have been 5 or 6 then and playing with cartoonstrike skins).

I miss a lot.

I miss clans and rivalries; DNC, SB, S (and even pantheon), DT etc.

I miss owning Coco over and over and over and over and over...

I miss milenko

So many good times.

I miss the clan evironments really.

Going to a DGA know there were clan wars going to happen for whatever games. Then playing and being really intense action going on.

then afterwards going outside and talking to the other team congratulating them, having a smoke and a drink .. they were the best.
