We'll also be running something along the lines of a Best and Fairest competition, with the prize going to the best behaved gamer who consistantly participates in the timetable games. The prize will be a fabuliferous Logitech G15 Keyboard generously donated by Cybernetic Computers.

Looks nice. Am I to assume DGA will have a server up for each game on the hour the timetable is set for it?

Guys, one problem we faced last DGA was - we tried to play css however the ping was SHIAT! I personally dont know why this would have happened?

Is there a way Neo or someone else can fix it? Last thing we would want is to get a shiat ping in a competition. (i think it must have been only css btw)

Thanks guys.... BTW, nice G15 prize too... ill have to try and win that

    Hey brownie
last DGA the game server and another users machine had the same IP. User said they didn’t know it was set as static. This would of caused a lot of chatter on the network and most likely a broadcast storm would of occurred.
Example: try talking to someone one on one in a busy nightclub; bit hard to hear what the other person is trying to say.

IP conflict didn’t really become an issue until power came back on and users machine took precedence of IP address.

I think DHCP for DGA is 255.225.254.0 and 255.255.255.0 subnet was set on the game server. So yes it would of been accessible but the games broadcast would of been affected.

One way to help limit windows file-sharing broadcasts is to delete or un tick the file sharing protocol in network preference.
I can do a quick how to for you guys/gals if you want.

It will help ALOT! if you disable that feature, specially with EVO coming up.

Ftp is a great protocol to help share your patches and that with friends. If we all used that you will notice a big difference in network performance and transfer speeds.

I can make a how to on some versions of ftp servers if you wish as well.

Are these available on DGA ftp servers or WebPages? FAQ?

    Cheers

For the past 2 years or so now DGA has discourage using windows file sharing and encouraged FTP. We do have some "How To's" on the Intranet site, I believe they are still there but may need to be revised. Momo if you would like to overview these guides and maybe make some changes for us then I'm sure no one will have any problems with that. Get in conatact with either Raker or Neo. They should be able to send you what we got.

DGA hasn't ran any type of BF comp games for a long while now. Due to not having enough teams and interest to fill a reasonable sized map. It's hard enough organising teams of 5 let alone teams of 8+.

All comps that are being organised have now all been advertised cept for the Chupa Chup Challenge.
