Thread: DGA _ Bridge Club - Max 40 persons

Hi gamers,

Just to let you know and to ensure you all understand DGA's position regarding lans and why we must stay within the 40 person max at the Bridge Club.

As some of you are aware we have had major issues and problems with some venues whereupon the venue has been double booked. This has resulted in problems to secure a venue and does nothing to enhance the very structure of what DGA is about, that being supplying an event for gamers.

Now I and the rest of the commitee are well aware that you the gamer are a very important and significant part of the integrity of DGA. Basically without you the gamer, there is no DGA.

There has also been another issue with the reduction of people getting or being interested in attending lans and notibly the numbers have declined for whatever reason.

We needed a venue that we could rely on and hence the Bridge Club has welcomed us back. The only real issue is obviously the size of this venue and that we had to honestly and without prejudice look at the ensuring we didnt overbook the number of people therefore causing further problems with cramped spaces, and network/power issues. Im sure you are all aware of POWER issues in the past.

So we devised a figure of 40 persons maximum at the Bridge Club based on information we have already obtained from past events at this place.

So when a DGA is advertised I ask and plead with you to ensure you register and confirm your attendence to ensure you dont miss out. I dont like seeing people miss out, in fact I personally hate missing out on anything that is a fun event. If you havent internet to confirm, ring one of the comittee members and they will do it for you.

Please please please do not think we are deliberately stopping you from going to a DGA. If anything we are trying to make it better in the hope that more gamers come back.

We are looking for another suitable venue and we will find one. We are not sitting on our hands and our goal is to find an airconditioned venue that can hold 80 people with no problems and can be relied on for regular bookings.

I think here would be a suitable place for these questions
1) How is the aircon at the Bridge club? Cause its stinking hot these days
2) How is the parking?
3) Are there showers?
4) Are eskys allowed to be brought?
5) Spare area for grapping some kip or under the tables?
6) Will softdrinks be sold?

thanks, but whats the response to 4? i was thinking of cheeses, dips, chocolate, iced coffee. no alcohol here. no siree

the bridge room will be a tight squeeze even with 40 people
id advise you not to bring a esky if you can help it but if you need to make it a smallish one and store it in the kitchen area

no probs. i can always just use a little cooler and restock from the car

God!! You say that at every lan you (manage) to come to - just come, sit down, say hello to the person next to you, and join a game.

You already know a lot of people coming, do you really need to sit next to them all?
