I will be there answering ALL questions. and if I dont know the answer nobody does.

So come ALL questions will be answered and for this 1 night only, if you wanna know ANYTHING in regards to DGA I will be answering those questions.

<unseen> schools, not viable, they cost too much and are too big for DGA, community halls are too big and too expensive from what we have found
<unseen> clubs are the same, they vary though there are good ones like the bridge club, however are few and far between

<unseen> Im going to say this offically there will be no evo at the start of next year.
<Diva> we have to have public liability insurance and the cheapest way for us to pay it is to have a pay by month one

<unseen> That is too far in advance, as far as a venue goes, we will be discussing an EVO venue sometime next year

<unseen> we are currently venue less for normal and evo events and a venue search is underway

<unseen> we have priced around 6 venues, which have been too much for what we need. Which is a 40 person lan venue ..

<unseen> yes you can, however the greek school has double booked us on more then one occasion, and we are not going back there in a hurry.
<unseen> no, DGA doesnt have enough interest at this moment to go beyond 40 people.

<unseen> Last 3 lans. .. 40 people registered lan 1 37 showed, Lan2 38 showed and lan3 35 showed.

<LothAR> and no prizes or anything or the sort to attract people
<|2usty> so it would seem at the end of the day that the venue seems to be the deciding factor as far as how many people go
<unseen> at all 3 lans there was seating for 44 people
<unseen> no, the venue has nothing to do with it .. 40 people is the limit to how many people are actually showing.

<unseen> in the EVO interest thread there is less then 60 people showing interest
<|2usty> the last Tank lan had over 100 people...and the end result seemed to be pretty positive
<unseen> we picked a limited and 40 was it.
<unseen> thats a negative response, due to not enough people showing and DGA loosing money on the event, and with little to no sponsorship it has now put a burden on the new committee in place now

<|2usty> personally i think that if the venue can accomodate more than 40 people and not exclude anybody that doesn't "register" on time etc...then it would gain more interest again
<unseen> and to do that we have to hire tables. and chairs and there is another expense
<|2usty> sponsorship is a big issue as well but it's not something that can't be sorted with a bit of PR work and less procrastination
<unseen> I mean if your happy to pay a fair bit more, and 30 - 50 people like wise, then venue isnt a problem

<|2usty> even just some tables, because if someone can't byo their own chair then there's something wrong
<unseen> not hard at all .. in regards to money earnt per DGA. its around $75

<unseen> so to but some tables, decent tables looking at $50 - $100 or so. so yeah a few lans anyways. that is if we dont have to replace any broken hardware or replace things here and there

<unseen> hence we are starting small 40 people lans. to get the "slush fund" up so that we can then look at expanding

<unseen> DGA isnt what it used to be, that a 150 lan a month is possible every month. Once people look past this, they will see that new things have to be tried.

<unseen> that comes down to the gamers themselves. If people dont come (we have a list) we did have a implementation that we were going to introduce. Be it register and not show up to 3 lans, you wont be able to register for the next 5.

<unseen> there is no set limit, however the youth grant works with under 16yr old members.

<unseen> under 16 is what got us the grant last time, and from what ive been told this is what needs to be achieved. a record of our under 16 youth members.

<unseen> no idea. the tables we use are 3m x 1m .. and sit 3 .. however never worked out the square meter requirements
<unseen> normally we will inspect and venue and from previous experience can tell what we can fit and how.

<unseen> didnt measure it, however we based it off table size and how many tables we could fit in. And due to having used the venue a while ago it was easy to work out the numbers

i think the lack of people coming is a result of the fact that less people frequent these forums... maybe you could find other places to let people know about the lans?

DGA has always been word of mouth. Be it here, or the web page www.darwingamers.org

However with the new age gamer now in place of all the old people that used to go, maybe we do need to advertise.

We have hit our target of 40 gamers for the last 3 Lans, so I dont think advertising will be happening too soon.
