One of Blizzard's new games titled 'Cataclysm'
02-07-2009 at 08:47 AM [11 Comments]
And we know this because they've just filed the trademarks for it! The question now, is Cataclysm the title of their new "from scratch" MMO title, or the hush-hush unknown 5th franchise that is rumoured?

With record profits thanks to World of Warcraft, it's not surprising that Blizzard are all-guns-blazing with development - StarCraft 2, Diablo 3, ongoing World of Warcraft, Cataclysm and the final known about yet allusive project.

It's great to see them branching out beyond their "safe bet" IP's - let's just hope there's no drop in quality.

Street Fighter IV PC now available on Steam!
02-07-2009 at 08:38 AM [17 Comments]
Shack News are reporting that pre-orders for the PC installment of the very awesome SFIV are now being taken on Steam, with a 10% discount - USD $35.99, is the figure.

Can anyone here confirm if this is the case for the Australian region, and what the price is? I'll be sure to jump on when home, and place my order!

Street Fighter IV for the PC is set for a July 7th release date.

PS3 slim as early as next month?
01-07-2009 at 11:37 AM [6 Comments]
Apparently so! Kotaku is reporting that according to Chinese site UDN, Sony have entered production agreements with two manufacturers to get their assembly lines rolling with the "PS3 slim".

While uncomfired by Sony, it does fit. A PS3 price cut is expected in August, and 80GB PS3 stock appears to be dwindling.

July is rumoured to be the month for production of this slim model, meaning August would be the date it ships out to retailers.

New Xbox to hit in 2010
20-06-2009 at 09:14 AM [6 Comments]
Well this is huge news... or is it? Sort of. It's not the Xbox 720 or anything like that.

It's understood that we'll see an evolution of the existing system, equipped with a "natural interface" and built-in camera. It's pretty obvious that Microsoft CEO, Steve Ballmer, is talking about Project Natal.

Of course, existing owners will still be able to purchase the stand-alone Natal peripheral, as pictured on thousands of popular games industry websites around the web and in most recent print magazines.

At best, it sounds like the hardware may be boosted slightly for this modified unit, but we shouldn't expect a fully fledged successor. It sounds a little crazy on the surface, but we should remind ourselves that the Wii isn't much more than a GameCube with innovative control system.

Perhaps Microsoft have decided to take a leaf out of Nintendo's book? Time will tell.

Next Mortal Kombat to be M rated
20-06-2009 at 09:07 AM [0 Comments]
It's sounding like the next MK may not just be a partial success, but a complete success.

Gameplay wise, the latest in the series was pretty solid. Something just seemed amiss, though? Perhaps it was the over-the-top gore? The fans, and developers alike seem to think so. Ed Boon writes:

"People want an M-rated MK....dammit we will give them an M-rated MK."
He also notes that a return to "disgusting" violence is on the cards, but hopes the studio isn't taking it too far. I'm liking the sound of that. What about you?
