I know I'm only quoting and responding to a portion of your post, but I thought it worthy of comment.

Quite simply, TiVo is like Foxtel for FTA TV, but you pay a once off purchase price and never have to spend another cent. It's by far (many times) better than any other PVR I've owned or tested, and has a fully functioning broadband updated EPG. Wives rarely wwant to understand the workings of such things, and TiVo is very wife friendly.
Yes, I do know it's the internet. No, that doesn't mean spelling and punctuation are illegal.

Windows Media Center is about as simple as it gets. It's polished, and very straight forward.

I have two DVB-C cards in my HTPC, as well as a twin-tuner DVB-T card. Thus I had 4 tuners, 2 for Foxtel and 2 for FTA. This way my entire media experience is through 1 interface. Watching and recording FTA and Foxtel, listening to radio and netradio, watching downloaded content and watching net-video - all through Windows Media Center. I'm also using a free EPG service that covers all free and pay-tv channels.

And more than a simple interface, women love not having to learn multiple interfaces, or use multiple remotes.

You've seen how many boxes I have under my TV Jamie, all controlled by the Logitech Harmony remote. Those things are worth their weight in gold.

This whole 'should I move' thing was instigated by my low low quality PVR. Its starting to play up after a few years and needs replacing. I had always thought I would get a Twin Hauppage tuner and stick it in my HTPC, but the T-Box with its free 24 hours AFL etc channels interested me especially given its only $299 outright and no monthly fees. The snag was I had to move from Node to Bigpond and weighing up all the pros and cons I decided to live with the staus quo for a while longer.

I'll be interested in seeing your whole setup next time I'm in Brisbane Jamie but I'm guessing by then I'll have gone with Tivo or tuner cards.
