After some 40 odd all grain brews, the time had come the walrus said to make something big.. not just big, epic.. a beer of gargantuan proportions and from the mash tun our first Russian Imperial Stout oozed forth.



OG: target 1.100, actual 1.089
FG: target 1.028, actual TBA
IBU: 110
Primary 9 days, secondary 19 days and counting.

We will probably be bottling this beast on the coming weekend, for drinking around September 2010. Pictured above is the mash after 60 minutes, the first runnings were thick and sticky, similar to used motor oil. Really looking forward to tasting this one next year.
