    :!:

It has everything against it. These servers, or as it is, server that is running have became really really popular. So popular that it is sometimes hard to connect. It makes it worse because a lot of time I'm playing I see one spectator for about 3 maps straight. I've seen someone in there all day once. That's not the only thing:

    Screen Cheaters:

Might be an issue? I'm not sure if anyone has ever thought of this, but a lot of people have home LAN's running (like me, believe me, it's VERY fun to have a couple of friends round!!)and might have 2 CD-keys, might be borrowing a friends etc. They might also suck greatly, and decide to screencheat. Having a spectator just sit in a game makes me annoyed, because I can't be sure that someone is sitting with another computer/laptop within viewing distance just seeing where people are.

    Well, that's my 2 cents.

I don't really mind the spectator bit because of screen cheating. Screen cheating is a bit like a lesson to other players who are camping. I don;t like spectators because they take up a spot in the server that could go to better use esp. as there's only one server up and working.

Screen cheaters can be in the game playing with you, I know (am pretty sure) those two [boxhill] guys screen cheat, though their pings are always rather different, leading to the assumption that they are using a program such as Roger Wilko.

This sort of thing is too difficult to police....I wouldn't worry about it dude.

Yeah this is for Counter-Strike mind you. Um that's a good point samid - they are always on at the same time, within 10 minutes of the other connecting... I'll keep an eye on them, see if anything is suss - then again, screen cheaters don't affect me too much, cos I'm not really camping so I have to be ready for anyone - even if they are more prepared for me.

It's just when I get my leet camping going on cobble. I'll kill a couple (including a boxhill) then a minute later the other will come round the corner, pause and say to him self "Hey, that is a good camping spot I can hardly see him" BANG BANG!

    Not happy jan

Ok .... thought I would throw my 2c worth in the ring on this one. As an admin, I don't mind the spectate option as it can be a help to those are new to the mods (yes there are still some around :lol. However, having said that I do place limits on ppl spectating .... especially in servers that are popular.

My (and I would imagine most of the admins have similar views on this) rule is that ppl joining a server have a MAXIMUM of 10mins in spectate before I will ask them to join or leave. It's a one time offer and if they don't join then they are out. The only time I will allow extra time is if they reply with a VALID reason .... ie recording a demo. Even then I will still impose a limit and once that has expired they are given the choice again with the same result as stated before.

As I said .... these are my rules only.

    Cheers

they probably just play in the same room or something. my brother and i used to do that and if one of us was dead the other would say what was going on around the map.

    nothing wrong with that

Really? Nothing wrong with that? Isn't it kinda unfair?

Also, did anyone notice the OZGz HLTV spectator that kept on connecting a coupe of days ago? I came online a few times during the day and each time the same spectator was there - spectating. At some times there were 20 people on the server and I believe an admin kicked HLTV, which then reconnected and went back to spectating.

    Odd :?
