I am running two of em in RAID 0 also and now that everything is updated, antivirus installed ect. and multiple restarts it's averaging around a 30sec boot, not supersonic but certainly faster than the two raided 1Tb drives I had before. The scores in Windows experience rating aren't any better than a standard drive but I suppose that's not how these work, reviews are a bit mixed but the idea is just to speed up commonly used applications but even opening something for the first time is damn quick.

Can't wait to see these in 3.5" 10,000rpm with larger solid state cache and hopefully from a few manufacturers.

I think I'm starting to sound like a used car salesman.

They have released some new Firmware for this drive. The main fix is the stop of stuttering. Sometimes watching videos would be stuttery because of the random spin ups and spin downs.

    New firmware version: SD24

Please verify your drive model number, serial number, and firmware revision using the Drive Detect software.

This article applies to the following models.

    ST92505610AS
    ST93205620AS
    ST95005620AS

    !!WARNING!!
If the firmware upgrade installation instructions are not followed properly, the firmware upgrade could be data destructive and/or render your hard drive inoperable. As Seagate does not warrant the data on your drive, in addition to regular back-ups, your data should be backed up, if possible, before upgrading the drive firmware. Additional information on backing up the contents of your drive can be found at the How To Use section of our website. Though this firmware upgrade to your product is a change to the product, the terms and conditions of your Seagate warranty for the product will remain effective to its normal expiration. For other warranties on your product please consult the warranty documentation provided by your supplier.

The firmware update utility runs within Windows. Download and run SD24 firmware update utility here.

For non-Windows systems with Intel compatible processors we also offer a bootable CD ISO image, which will create a bootable CD. For instructions on how to create a bootable CD please see: How to burn an .iso image onto a CD.

Click here for firmware update utility GPL open source downloads.

Firmware Survey: Seagate is committed to providing efficient information to our customers. In order to better understand our customer's knowledge needs, we are conducting a customer survey on firmware information covered in this article.

Well mine arrived in the post today just before Xmas

Overall I'm running the 2.5 drive meant for a laptop in my main PC machine. Running Windows XP Pro. Have not noticed much difference in boot times but shut down times with WinXP is super super fast, blink of the eye fast.

Moving over to general performance. I would say I ran a pair of server grade raid 1 hard drives and even considering this is a laptop hard drive it kicks the crap out of them.

Overall opening word, excel, all the main applications I use including skype open instantly. Browsing a photo album is super fast.

Give it a thumbs up, if anyone is looking to upgrade their hard disk drives. Though I see soon all hard disk drive manufactures will start offering the hybrid drives next year.
