Thermaltake Black Xaser VI & FREE Liquid Cooling System

Well while I was on the upgrade path and looking for new products for my self and work I came across the Thermaltake Xaser full tower case offered all over the place with the Bigwater 780e liquid cooling system, which has brackets to suit Intel sockets 478, LGA775, LGA1156, LGA1366 and AMD sockets 754, 939, AM2, AM2+ and AM3. I know these have been around for a while but trying to get any that size and weight shipped to Darwin is just ridiculous.

So to the point, I found them at ITSDirect for $231 + $75 freight. Not bad considering it's full tower with a complete water cooling unit.

the problem with water cooling in a thermaltake case is the fact that your PC in a TT case already wieghs like 30kilos, and then on top of that you have the water cooling system...
    Remember, it's an MMORPG

I don't intent to to take it to LAN's nor vacuum under it, my current setup must weigh nearly that much anyway.

Well I got my new case and it's all up and running and the only real con is the weight, it's around 35kg's but apart from that it rocks, the water cool set is really good and comes pre-installed so just a quick inspection is required making it simple enough for anyone to set up.

I ran some stress test last night and with the CPU OC'ed the max temp I hit was 34.5c.

If you like your PC to look trick then this is the case go for, cable management is superb with lots of places to hide wiring, I managed to get it looking like there is nothing plugged in on quick inspection. The included fans are whisper quiet except for the one on the radiator which comes with a speed controller so you can tone it down to an acceptable level. Overall for value it's 10/10.

nice, this was the alt case i was looking at when i upgraded at the start of the year - settled for the Lian Li A71FB in the end:
    Lian Li PC-A71FB Black [LL-PC-A71FB] - $329.00 : PC Case Gear

love it. How did the install go? any barked knuckles? that's been my pet hate about putting machines together since i worked on the original iMacs at the old AppleCentre.

I run an A-10B dual PSU case. I use the second PSU bay to house my water pump and although all the front facing bays are 5 1/4" I can convert 2 bays into 3x 3.5" bays with the Lian Li kit. Awesome case, wouldn't trade it for anything.

Install was piss easy, the only issue was mounting 2.5" drives which was quickly overcome.

I also love my Lian-Li but I wanted to build a bit of a show piece, the Thermaltake case certainly does the job for that although my Lian-LI is far superior build quality and cooling.

My Lian-Li is is sadly for sale now.
