    Boxee Box

This thing is rad. $200 USD, and Boxee is based on XBMC.

D-Link Australia is negotiating a range of local content deals, including Movies on Demand, in anticipation of launching the Boxee Box media player in Australia later this year.

In the US, D-Link has unveiled plans to build the Boxee Box a dedicated media player running the Boxee streaming media software. Locally D-Link is pushing hard for a simultaneous release in the US and Australia, slated for the second half of 2010, says D-Link Australia marketing director Maurice Famularo.

I'm actually quite keen on this. Any idea how we'd go watching content from the US that's normally restricted to people coming from outside NA, like Hulu? Or if you get one of these are you also going to need to get a VPN to make the most of it?

    VPN required yes.

Although support for a VPN could be built-in - VPN for boxee box - boxee :: forums

At the end of the day, you'd need a VPN to watch this US stuff no matter what frontend you used.

Its out and available for Pre-order. AU$299 = fail compared to the US version given the exchange rate.

Interesting but they have a long way to go yet.

An integrated DVR, a real program guide, a movable PIP window that opens quickly -- all these things must happen for Google TV to be successful
Add an Australian EPG and PVR capabilities and I'll take a closer look Google.

According to Gary over at Cnet, the Australian Tivo is about to get a price drop. A huge price drop even, taking the DVR from $699 to $499 and throwing in bonus free stuff.

From tomorrow, the 320GB device will not only cost less that 500 bucks, but will come with either a $50 cash back or a $100 voucher for movie rentals through the CASPA video on demand service. It will also come bundled with the $70 wireless adapter, while HybridTV are also phasing out the 160GB model.
