    Telstra T-Touch Tab

Telstra have released their latest piece of 'T' branded items namely a 7" Android tablet. Reviews below.

It only comes with eclair 2.1 but there is word of 2.2 being tested on the device. Unlike the iPad, the T-Touch Tab will work best with a stylus (which comes included), as the device uses a resistive screen as opposed to the iPad?s more sensitive screen, limiting multi-touch support as well. That's pretty much a fail right there. The only thing that interests me is the fact that its $299 and can be rooted to do what I want

I think a lot of people are going to get into a situation where they relise that these tablets are either too small or too big to do what they want. For me, I tried out different sizes of mobile phones, and similar size to the one above. Then the full Ipad, and different E-readers.

The conclusion I came to was, that the Tablets are too big to just fit in your pocket and head out and enjoy yourself. If you have to throw them into a back pack or carry case then they lose their easy means of transporting the device. The next problem, was that using them outside without EInk meant that you had to carefully choose the location where and when to read it, not to mention you look like a fuck tard.

Then the counter point with smart phones are also true. That they don't have sufficient size to read a comic book or book well your sitting on the train. Though they're very easy just to slip into your pocket and go, and very mobile.

So for me, I spent my money on a 10inch tablet to sit at home and read books on, with my WIFI network. I use the phone just to slip into my pocket and head out and just check news web sites, and run VOIP applications to avoid the Telstra Network charges of 80c a minute. The cost savings is about 80-90% what the plan offers.

Either way, the biggest problem is with these new mid size tablets coming out, is they're too small to be used to read a book and too big to transport without a carry case. When you need a carry case then a EEEpc or small tablet will just be as efficient and give you vastly more options.
