    bigpond strikes again

so a few months ago i decided to go on the 200gb adsl2+ plan with bigpond. already regretting it.

all weekend my internet has been at snails pace, so i decide to ring them up
get some overseas call centre and i'm told i've gone over quota.
funny thing is though i have a usage metre and keep an eye on it - nope not over by a long shot.
check on bigponds account site, nope not over quota at all.
then they tell me they cant help me as quotas are a billing issue and billing is closed on the weekend.
so no internet till monday night for me.

then funnily enough i remembered 2 friends who are also with bigpond tell me the exact same thing happened to them last week and they had to ring up support were told they were over even though they werent and almost as soon as they got off the phone it was back to full speed.

so i go over to the folks place to test theirs - no where near over quota and running super slow.
    same bs story given.

    nice work bigpond, real nice.
guarantee i wont be with them come contract renewal time.

That's bad. I nearly fell into that trap when they released the 200G plans. If it wasn't for the fact that I'm on their old billing system I would be signed up right now. Instead I got told its for customers on the new billing system only, so I said ggf.

When Node brought out the T-Shirt plans I decided to take my landline away from them as well. How stupid that they have different billing systems and different plans based on what system you bill is produced by. If it weren't for the superior mobile phone network I'd be long gone.
GU - giving everyone the freedom to post whatever they want...
so long as we can all pay them out if they missed an earlier thread on the same topic!

lol now this is funny. i ring them up this morning and got them to "unshape" it.
it worked. was all working again - no explanation given as to why they shaped it.
then i get home and within 30mins of downloading torrents i get shaped again.
    still under the quota.

got hung up on half way through, then called back and got some overseas call centre who says its a technical support issue even though the last guy could clearly see it wasn't

I also dropped my landlne with Telstra and bundled with Node, and have to agree that NextG is the only thing keeping my wife's mobie with Telstra, which is now our only Telstra product.
Yes, I do know it's the internet. No, that doesn't mean spelling and punctuation are illegal.

I swear people at Telstra must come to work in the morning wondering on how they will devise new ways to fuck with people. My internet is randomly slow all the time and it does seem that whenever I call to complain that they find no issue and it miraculousness starts working again, It's like they push a button and every thing is fine but they swear there is no issue. They must piss themselves laughing when you hang up.

Same thing happened to my parents. Well kind of. They were getting slow speeds or even no internet. They rang Telstra and they denied all knowledge and said it must be their end. Because of the intermittent nature of it I figured it was their DNS servers. Sure enough changing DNS servers fixed the problem. I told mum that they lied to her because they know their DNS servers are shit and get overloaded at times.

So she rings them to tell them that her son fixed it and that their DNS servers suck. So funny.

Sorry if this is shittily written. Just woke up.
