Thread: What TV would you buy? Sony or LG? (Buying Tomorrow/Saturday!)

Finally buying my-self a nice LCD/Plasma tele, the time and price seems right. For a while I've been wanting a Sony KDL-46HX800 as it seems to have awesome reviews everywhere. At this time you can grab one for $2299 (something close to that) including a PS3, GT5, a 3D movie and 3D glasses via redemption (extra $50 for postage). I was almost going to pay $2667 a week ago so I almost bought this straight away. Until I saw this...

LG 50PX950 for $1799 (close to this) including a 360, Kinnect thing (like Wii), wireless dongle and 3D glasses. If you didn't know this is a 50" plasma, something a little different than the LCD I was thinking of. Now being LG I was hesitant at first but this model seems to have pretty good reviews too and looked awesome in store.

So for roughly $500 less (which I could use to buy a ps3, as well as sell the 360 as I have one) I could get a nice looking 50" plasma or pay premium for a premium 46" LED. I've always been a Sony and Samsung fanboi, and honestly almost went thru with the buy. But the 50" really did look impressive and for a considerably cheaper price. Also the LG has 3 year warranty and Sony 1 year...

Sooo what would you chose given the two? I'm really stumped, kinda wish the salesman didn't even show me the LG... Maybe I should stick with my fanboi instinct and buy a Sony

lg are terrible. and its plasma.

Why dont you wait for the after Christmas sales? Your going to save a bundle

I prefer Plasma to LCD and LG do decent panels so that price should be too good to pass up.

If the choice were mine I'd go a Panasonic Not helpful I know but there you go.

If you can afford it, go the Sony.

i have always enjoyed samsung and think they are the best bang for buck.

LG make shit televisions. Do now, and always have done. Buy one if you like the idea of having to return a faulty product.

actually I take that back. It was too early in the morning obviously as I was thinking about Pioneer panels not LG, LG are indeed poor. You get what you pay for there. Go the Sony if you like it but check out the Pana's for sure.
