It has been a rather long time since my last upgrade so I may be out of the loop here, opinions and or suggestions on the below parts for an upgrade.

would probly pay the extra for an ssd, momentus is good - almost as good as a raptor but true ssd still trumps them both
u can pick up cheap sata2 ssd's now that the new gen is out. use the mommentus as a second drive for storage.

If you need to save money to get an SSD get the i5 2500k CPU.

I have that CPU (i7-2600K). Get it.

Def get an SSD.

With my mobo (Gigabyte P67A-UD7) the above CPU is so easy to overclock.

Any particular brands of SSD to look out for

Vertex II or III is what you want.

I'd go a Gigabyte motherboard, but that's just me. What's powering all this?

Have been an Asus Fanboy for many years. Have not looked into the power side as of yet. Have a good quality XFX 650w in my current rig (recent replacement for an 800 that died), unsure if that will be sufficient
