Move over FRAPS, Dxtory is far better

I've been using FRAPS for years now, unhappily to be honest - it's a bit of a piece of shit. But there hasn't really been anything much better. Over the years I've tried Xfire, MSI Afterburner, PlayClaw and nothing has done everything I wanted it to, or done the things they do quite good enough. The biggest problem was the frame rate hit in game, and if that was fine the biggest problem was the quality of output.

Anyway, today I discovered Dxtory. Set custom record resolutions, record using whatever codec you like, record multiple audio inputs, distributed HDD writing, intelligent OSD design, multithreaded operation and more.

I've been recording some Battlefield 3 today using the recommended Lagarith Lossless Codec. I play in 1080p but have been recording in 720p, 30fps in YV12 mode. The performance is pretty remarkable, I noticed a mere 5-10fps gameplay FPS hit.

If anyone else here is capturing their gameplay with anything else, you should be at least be giving it a go: Dxtory.com
