So what your saying is that the LAN's will only take place if 80% out of the 100% who sign up are currently in uni?? or in school in general?

For NTU student union funds to be allocated to a club that is afiliated with them, they require an 80:20 ratio of uni students to non uni students as club members. Basically, the tight asses won't give you money unless there is a clear majority of interest from NTU students![]()
<--- would like to see the revue society get into the student union, it'd be heaps of fun =)

Alright well I dont think it will be hard to find the 20 but to find the 80 might be more difficult

lol true - the key phrase though is "club members" - Though that may be covered by some sort of contract agreement.. who knows what schemes the evil student union may be up to in these dark times![]()

And to be an actual club .. fisrt u must reqister as one .. with the funds to support that reqistration .. also u must have a committee and committee meetings once per month .. shall I go on..

When you want something up your
Clackers
yeah it all sounds real nasty, except the guy who is in charge of all the clubs doesnt really care much
and because we dont ask for anything but free rooms its all good
the problems are gonna start when we ask for a 24 port switch :P
but by the time we need that, we should have enough members for it to be justified. I think if any "non-students" wanted to come, and they failed to sign up for some strange reason.... then we shouldnt have any problems with membership
and we'll just count every time we have a lan as a meeting.
easiest way to deal with the union is to do as little as possible until they decide that it isnt enough
which probly wont happen, cos they are reallyyy slack
Ok we haz talked to the student union, and we now have an official club, LAN rights
We plan on having events every few weeks, we probly arnt going to rival the DGA LANs, but we are going to have a go at it. We plan on having these LANs for free, because at this point we have no costs. and the more members we have, the more funding we can get
so if there are any NTU students around here could you send us an email at
lanrights@hotmail.com
and we can have non-student members, but it has to be a 80% student membership, but i dont think they can stop non-members attending the events![]()
seriously, anyone here from NTU, you gotta register with this club, the freakin QOC club is getting more funds than us.
we are gonna run pretty well the same as DGA, but on a smaller scale, hopefully more regularly, and for free dammit!!! free!!!!!
which is very important for struggling uni students
lanrights@hotmail.com
i might want to attend this..../me is not a Uni student though...
post some more details when you get it closer to being set up![]()
LOL use their apathy against them, you fight good grasshoppah![]()
only problem will come when they cotton on to what you're doing
