if you get your stuff stolen its your own fault for not looking after it.

    Nope none what so ever.

I have been to almost all DGA lans (20+) and have never once had a thing stolen. Generally speaking it is fairly safe as many that attend aren't @ssholes and are very kind and generally look out for things going on that isn't meant to. Not to mention 2 cops that regularly attend - so don't think of stealing anytime soon cos I can tell you now you won't last long

As Wortel says it is however your responsibility. At least this is the case with DGA in Darwin (sorry dun know where you live). But I can garantee that you will make friends within 5-10min of entering and they will look after your gear

So from my experience it is safe, but do obviously take care cos things DO happen from time to time.

When I first started attending LANs (DGA 6 or 8 - can't remember now), I used to be worried about leaving my computer overnight if I went home.

However, I didn't realise then that the best thing about DGA's is the strong core of "mates" that exists - it doesn't worry me now, cos I tend to stay all night anyway, but it is never a problem.

As Jono said, potentially there will always be a risk, but if it ever did happen, I pity the poor person stupid enough to try and rip something off.
Just because I have a short attention span doesn't mean that I

From what I've heard, they have a lot of problems down south with it, but they also have a lot more people then we do in darwin, and as Xaine said, everyone here knows everyone else, so we don't often have problems with stuff like this

If somsome steals your shit and is caught doing it, the wiser move would probably to get Spongey to take him down the cop-shop and call his parents. That would bruise him more than any amount of punches, and doing it that way means you can't have charges put on you for assault. :)

But no, it's a very safe enviroment - I've been a LAN gamer for untold years now, started about 6 months after getting my first PC. Been attending and assisting DGA since the very first... Oh the memories.

most of the older gamers are big and ugly, to mess with them would be suicide.

Crazy_C Used to be a bouncer (or so i believe). He would be first in-line to personally get his anti-theft message across.

I have no issues with leaving my computer at the LAN, because yes, i do know most of the people there and yes, i trust them.

Small things like walletts and watches (witch i take out/off for wars) i keep an eye on, because they are easy to nick without being noticed.

But all that said, there is NO PROBLEM and if the regulars have anything to do with it, THERE NEVER WILL BE!
