wtb laptop videocard for dell inspiron 9300

My geforce go 6800 hardware have failed probably over heated.
Im getting artifacts when I try to use the hardware so now im using my dell inspirion 9300 without the video card installed.

Ive enquired some places about getting it fixed and its gonna roughly cost me about 500 - 700 bucks but these arent locally darwin.

Anyone local can hook me up to fix this problem somewhat bit cheaper ?

    Thx

You can actually buy a replacement video card? Aren't almost all laptop GPU's on-board?

but even if he replaces it he might still have the problem.

board replacements are easy when you can figure out how the specific model goes together.
LG and Toshiba are pretty easy to pull apart same with macs

    never done a dell.
Why work when you can drink

It so happens that I have a 6800go from my 9300 sitting around (I upgraded to the 7800GTXgo).

For $200 I'll put it in for you.

Let me know if you're interested.

Just for info, I also have a 6800goUltra, but you need to get a 130W powerbrick (I got mine off ebay) as it sucks more juice than the 6800go.

Xaine; so the video card is actually seperate? Is this the case with many notebooks, or just these Inspiron 9300's?

I'm only familiar with the Dell's, but I have a strong feeling that any laptop with a high-end graphics card (ie, gaming) does have them separate.

The Sager's (Clevo), Alienwares, to name a few, use the separate cards.

    Edit
Here's a link to the Dell service manual that shows the card - and I love how Dell put their service manuals online so you can do your own servicing if confident enough.

I've got a Sony Vaio with a GO 7300. I love the idea of replacing it down the line, with an GO 8600, if possible.

    I'll do some investigation.
