Advice Needed - What can i buy for less than a grand?

Hey all, could someone compile a gaming PC for me? Id be looking to spend around between $500-700 on a gaming PC however i dont really know where to start. Im sorta looking at a 512mb-1gb (MS240N? Entry level anyway) on the graphics side of things with about 4 in RAM.I own a monitor/keyboard (My own desktop sh*t itself- 'No signal detected'). Damn, i hate the insides of PC's however i love the gaming.Im into RTS/MMORPG (SEGA Total War's & EVE-ONLINE) so not really graphics intensive like FPS's. If someone could provide a link to a good site, a PM with a list or even the PC itself id appreciate it (Iv been searching through Ebay and everytime i think iv found something good a bit down the list i find something better, times that by 10 times and my head hurts lol.

    Cheers,

    Morgs

Thank you for your prompt reply grandinferno. I was initially worried about posting my question (Hypothetical reply from stereotyped tech-savvy, anti-social hardcore gamer ....''Gaming PC for under a grand? Shoe box with a mouse running on a wheel, Armadio'').

Thx mate, ill look into your posted items

You can get a surprisingly good rig for a grand. GI's recommendation is a good one. Don't expect to play Crysis at 1920, but it'll play most popular titles with ease.

Anything to get away from Age of Mythology and Warcraft II on my notebook lap-top would be great.Itching to play Napoleonic Total War without the armies looking like they'd been drawn by my two year old.

The wife wanted me to play monopoly the other night, id almost considered it. *Involuntary shudder*, boardgames......

Been using mega buy for most of parts since that forum a year or so back and find their pricing competitive and service good.
