    Power pack 12v 4amp output

    Anyone got one of these doing nothing i can grab/buy?
    12V 4A 48W AC Adapter Power Supply For LCD Monitor + Cord, Australia and New Zealand, LCD / LED TV Monitor AC Adapter
    Adapter Input Voltage(V): AC 100-240V / 50-60Hz
    Adapter Output: DC 12V 4A

    They usually power monitors or laptops.

    You may find one at dicksmiths. This is what I can see for now.

    What are you going to use it for may I ask? If it is a laptop then those will be most likely fine.

    Using it for an external WD drive, fault finding leads me to think its the power supply.

    Well you will over volt your hard drives with the links I have provided. Do you know if you need that much current (4 Amps?) If not you can probally get away with a 12v Plugpac from jaycar.

    I should have some 12v 5A left over, $20 each. I had them for monitors, so the plug type is fairly generic.
    They say if you play a Microsoft CD backwards, you hear satanic messages. Thats nothing, cause if you play it forwards, it installs Windows

    Current is different to voltage, it'll only draw what it needs. 5A is the max it is designed to output. If a device only needs 1A, thats all it'll draw.
