Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds has been dropped from today's one-day match against Bangladesh in Darwin on the recommendation of the team's leadership group.

He is returning home from Darwin today.

Cricket Australia says a media conference will be held after today's game to discuss the reasons for Symonds' departure.

Symonds has been in trouble with team management in the past over his behaviour.

He was left out of the team for a one-day match against Bangladesh during Australia's tour of England in 2005 after arriving for the game under the influence of alcohol.

With the game being beamed around the world on television, Northern Territory Cricket says it hopes to attract a crowd in excess of 6,000 people.

Bangladesh captain Muhammad Ashraful says his side has the potential to upstage the world champions.

"When we play against Australia we are looking forward. If we play good cricket it will be good experience for us I think," he said.

"They're number one at this moment but we know if we play well on the day we can beat any team."

Going to be interesting to find out what he did...

I dont think carribean so much more that he is black I know bunches of kids who look up to him!

He was sent home for going fishing instead of a compulsory meeting.

Regardless of where he's from, the point Sper0 is making is that he's black, and he's doing nothing positive for the previously problematic racial discrimination issues that have risen in the past with direct relation to him. Which perhaps means that it's even more important to keep his actions in-order when in Darwin, where racial descrimination against blacks is prominant.

I don't agree with her on the matter, yet - that may change depending on the circumstances of him being dropped... ie; punching on in a Darwin nightclub. But I just thought I'd point that out before we got into a debate about where he was born, where he was raised, and where his bloodlines trace back to.
