Thread: New Radiohead album by end of 2010

Fans gathered at this weekend's Glastonbury festival enjoyed a spectacular surprise as Radiohead played a shock set.

Currently hard at work on their new studio album, Radiohead have not played a British show since 2008. Spending the bulk of last year working, singer Thom Yorke broke ranks to play a number of solo shows.

With Glastonbury looming, it seems that two members of Radiohead couldn't resist the temptations of Worthy farm. Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood played a surprise set on Friday (June 25th), taking control of the Park Stage.

The appearance stunned fans, who had been left a 'TBC' notice on the line up. Festival organiser Michael Eavis emerged onstage to break the news to those in attendance, saying "welcome to the biggest surprise of the weekend".

"There's two superstars... I'll not name them but they're right here."

Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood then appeared, with the singer jokingly announcing "Hi, my name is Thomas Yorke".

The singer then charged through an emotional rendition of his solo track 'The Eraser' before being joined by his Radiohead compatriot. The pair rattled through some Radiohead classics, including 'Pyramid Song'.

Mainly acoustic, the duo did find time for a skittering rendition of 'Idioteque' before playing a rousing version of 'Karma Police'. Ending with 'Street Spirit (Fade Out)' the duo left to overwhelming applause from a growing band of fans.

The news came as a surprise to most festival goers, with the appearance spreading via word of mouth. Sadly, many fans did not hear about the performance adding to the Glastonbury myth.
