New Foxtel channels for November 2010 - Knowfirst

I believe this is exclusive to Knowfirst, happy to be corrected if not.

The following is from multiple sources - I try to confirm with at least 2 people before posting something, as accuracy is paramount.

This is current, but things can obviously change.


NOVEMBER 2010

*BBC Knowledge HD
*Nat Geo Wild HD
*MTV Live HD
*Speed HD
*3D Channel (for events like ESPN X Games etc - this is already on D206)

*MTV Hits SD (this was The Music Factory on Optus)
*MTV Live SD (down-converted from MTV Live HD)
*Speed SD (down-converted from Speed HD)
*Fox Sports SD (X-Box only)

*Nat Geo +2
*Nat Geo Wild +2
*Animal Planet +2
*13th Street +2

*16 Foxtel Box Office channels will be taken down for the Commonwealth Games channels, but only 8 or so will go back up.

There will also be channels added in the first half of next year (more than likely first quarter), multiple sources confirm.

My Austar source says the company is aware of the new additions that are being planned and is likely to add some or all of them at the same time. This however cannot be confirmed.

I believe Foxtel is investing heavily in its X-Box program - I reckon we could see exclusive channels for it in the near future as well.

Cool - yay for more HD.

Just upgraded my Foxtel subscription last night to include all channels except the movie ones.

Still no retransmission of FTA into SA and WA, stoopid FTA privateers.

From the lineup it doesn't look like much new content is being added though.

And wouldn't not having one package be as expensive as having them all given the platinum discount?

Nup, essentially I have the "HD Gold" package, but without "1 Movie Pack" as a part of the bundle. It costs me $100 a month, minus my discount for signing up during their EOFYS promotion.

Platinum is $135, and additionally I'd get the Foxtel Magazine, both movie packs (Showtime and Movie Network), as well as 2 free Box Office movies. None of which I have any interest in.

Fair enough. I never use the Box office movies either... I may drop down to the Gold package too.
