    It looks like something freaking huge is about to be made public by Wikileaks. Really huge.

    Today, the USA has been briefing other governments on topics currently unknown, rumored to be what Wikileaks is about to go live with. It will apparently make everything else they've ever exposed pale into absolute insignificance....

    What is "history insurance", you ask?

    Wikileaks has a file on their website called "insurance". Nobody really knows what's in it, because it's locked with the highest level of encryption available today. Eventually it will be cracked, but the computer power necessary to solve the encryption is likely decades away, or about equal to the shelf life of the classified documents in question.

    There's a lot of speculation, but what most people think is that it's a dead-mans switch, meaning that Wikileaks can mass distribute the passkey if the US government ever gets too close to shutting them down. In the meantime, we all store the 1.4GB file on their behalf.

    It's basically the only leverage that Wikileaks has. Either that, or one of the greatest bluffs in history.

    People are of course assuming the worst - either a 9/11 or GFC involvement reveal.

    I'd be happy with either.
