Well this is huge news... or is it? Sort of. It's not the Xbox 720 or anything like that.
It's understood that we'll see an evolution of the existing system, equipped with a "natural interface" and built-in camera. It's pretty obvious that Microsoft CEO, Steve Ballmer, is talking about Project Natal.
Of course, existing owners will still be able to purchase the stand-alone Natal peripheral, as pictured on thousands of popular games industry websites around the web and in most recent print magazines.
At best, it sounds like the hardware may be boosted slightly for this modified unit, but we shouldn't expect a fully fledged successor. It sounds a little crazy on the surface, but we should remind ourselves that the Wii isn't much more than a GameCube with innovative control system.
Perhaps Microsoft have decided to take a leaf out of Nintendo's book? Time will tell.
We also should remind ourselves that the xbox360 isn't much more than a 3 year old PC that you can't do anything with.
A fully fledged successor will be just a hardware boost.
You could replace "xbox360" with almost any console, from almost any period.
That's what consoles are, but you sound surprised - even peterbed? Please refer to this guide: http://www.gamers-underground.com/fo...uld-i-buy.html
Turns out this was rubbish - even though it came from Microsoft Games' CEO. There will be no new hardware in 2010, it has been clarified. Project Natal will be exclusively stand-alone, for the existing 360 hardware.
