    WOW and LAG

    Guys,

I have a 1.5 connection with Telstra (not sure if its the problem) but myself and my partner have both been lagging out that badly that we disconnect or just cant do a single thing.

Blizzard advised me to remove all my mods and start again. So I deleted wow and all my mods from my computer I then spent 3 hours reloading wow and all the new mods that I downloaded (good thing I downloaded them some are good now). BUT when logging back on the lag was still present.

NOW I have done some other lag recommendations as per the wow site including changing network card settings and so on but it made it worse. Does anyone have any suggestions as my mind is blank now?

Is your connection lagging out on anything else?
    Whats your download speed like.
Do you have a wireless connection?

First thing to do it to test your actual line connection and rule that out.

Well when testing it last night...

Downloaded a wow patch at 100kb sec (UNUSUAL)
Downloaded a couple of program updates and mods 100kb (UNUSUAL)
    Pinged hotmail.com avg 271ms
    Pinged ctmod.net avg 324ms

No I dont have wireless. Download speed appears to be normal. When playing everything will stop or ppl begin running into walls and when I hit buttons they just light up but nothing happens. So yeh standing in IF I usually get around 550-650. Lately 750-950 avg with spikes of 2k + before I disconnect.

One person has said that I should look at updating my video drivers. Wow actually said some mods can do it to some machines so Ill remove some mods that I downloaded last week and see if that possibly helps it.

Its a bit odd that it started to occur all of a sudden.

Have you tried to start it with no mods enabled at all? I know you said you reinstalled them, but I dont know if you tried it without any installed. One of the mods I had would have days where it'd just constantly disconnect me.

dunno how accurate this list of IP's is for the WoW servers, but it may be worth pinging or running a tracert on a couple and seeing what you get.

Actually we found out what it was last night...

    TELSTRA...

So this morning I packed up my account with telstra and have requested to join internode.

    BTW I did the following
    - Tried to load it with no mods INSTALLED... Still the same
    - Virus and Spyware check done
    - And me and Thel are both on the same type of machine in different rooms using the same connection.

    We'll see how node goes...

Unusual. I'm with telstra and I'm not having any problems. Also you usually know about lag problems with ISP's on JT, because every person ends up spamming the LFG channel with "OMG LAAGGGG BLIZZARD SUX0RS".
